Back up and running....

28/07/2012 20:10

Hi Guys

sorry for the absence, have had a few issues with the treatments that have left me feeling some what pooey and have generally passed out before someone offers me more tofu to build myself up. At this juncture, even I feel sorry for the tofu, laying all things out on the table all the food here is terrible.

Anyway the clinic aren't failing in providing therapies an have had already had the benefits of magnetic, local Hypothermic, lymph drainage, ozone therapies all of which are subsidised heavily with infusions. I have not yet broken my record of 8 in a day so far. I actually asked the nurse "is 8 quite a lot ?" she happily answered "no 5 is a lot". I'm still trying to figure that one out myself.

Update on Bad Salzhausen. The town seems to fail on not providing the required tumble weed that most ghost towns do. It does, so ever, give you an atmosphere of total relaxation. A walk through the park where you can sample the natural springs gives your taste buds a real sense playing russion roulete. After sampling the lithium, which is recommended taken twice daily. I bet no one will get past the 2nd or 3rd sip. The Iron springs I can recomend a lovely sip with a urine tint to it but leaving an after taste as if you have just licked a rusted girder.

A major highlight of my stay to date is the arrival of not only parents, but also my wife has returned, as you guessed I still don't know how to use the washing machine.

Anyways thanks for all your messages of support and love, and I promise to write sooner x

general catch up

19/07/2012 18:49

Hi everyone!

Hope you are all well. Sorry I didn't have a chance to blog yesterday due to my hectic schedule. Probably would have felt a million bucks if i wasn't knackered. But day wasn't wasted we visited Nidda as the last escapade, of the day, and had a nice couple of hours being pushed over the cobble stone streets in 27degree C. Cobble stones bemuse me because from my view point all that bouncing action going on was a total waste ;).

We finally stopped at one restaurant and was in heaven as my bizarre quest for German bockwurst had ended. There they were priced at 2 Euro waiting for my consumption, but alas my wifes requirement for wine, and of course she was doing all the pushing led us to the restaurant next door, whose menu contained a mirade of fine cooking and ice cream. Any Bockwurst? hell no, gutted. I will have my revenge.

The clinic still encourages good results as I spoke to the laid back Dr Herzog , at 10pm tonight, and the treatment is being ramped up in my ignorance with, touch wood, no ill effects, further treatments will be added as the progression goes on and obviously I will keep you guys in the loop. As for the food we have observed that because of such a multi cultural in patient situation all we have to do is get friendly with certain groups who all chip in for take outs or deliveries. Several days ago two huge pizzas turned up and tonight was a cooking for the Kumars indian arrived. I class these as dietary supplements.

Everyone appears friendly enough at the moment, obviously haven't upset people yet. Have met a nice Australian couple, Gary & Ginny, and the brave women is fighting liver cancer without chemo. There are amazing people here and our strength seems to come from the strengths and fortitude of others, with this backing and foundation it is no surprise the success results are so good.

Again thanking you for all your messages from home as reading each one makes me smile and the importance of that is unmeasurable. My love to you all and thanks for you support

Will blog again soon.

Thanks for messages

17/07/2012 16:56

Guys its been great reading all your messages from home and that has just added to what I feel has been a small achievement today. I attended my first magnetic treatment this morning and felt a significant improvement in my breathing. I am hoping that this had slightly affected the size of the liver resulting on it not pressing on the lung. Might not seem a lot but its the first thing in 9 months that has resulted in a reduction of pain, may it long prevail.

On the flip coin had had numerous injections in the stomach this morning, and the injection points circled there came the obvious joke of an elephant face. Two eyes and a trunk if people need a hint. Also one of them being mistletoe, shame its not christmas, as most people kiss under the mistletoe round that time of year . Must be a theme today as found our cleaner, Nana, has american roots so had a brief converstaion about differing meanings in words across the pond and fanny was a hell of a job to explain cleanly in German.

Ozone therapy, massage(by a man had expected the young philipino lady again), lymph drainage undertaken by my male physio therapist(mmm not too comfortable with that.

Am still suffering various bone pains but if what I've had so far has shown slight improvements then I'm sure Dr Herzog will adapt a regime that will assist and improve. Dr Herzog, himself, is like the cool of cool docs and after meeting him feel slightly more relaxed with an installed confidence that the words "we can't do anymore" won't be as forthcoming as the other regimes seem to say so easily.

Well now signing off and going to see what variation of tofu I can dispose of.

love to all xxx

My turn

16/07/2012 15:13

This is great after being allowed to actually type something, all I hear from the wife is the shower doesn't work, not to deprive myself of typing something, well the shower is still broken.

Typical German efficiency, we arrived at around 2ish on the saturday and within 2hrs have had various physical tests and ultra sound for the follwing weeks regimes. The look on the Doctors face seems to depict I have set them a challenge, well never did owt by half. The nurses are nice, hardly any speak English so am having a great time with practising my German which seems to be coming along in leaps and bounds.

The last several days have just seen me being built up with various Vitamins and liver treatments, have adopted various Vits as type of food that I have now taken to fantasize about. A fantasy is great when the only meat you seem to get chicken or Tofu. Tofu, never had it before and would image it will still taste as tasteless a. It obviously has had an effect on some of the residents, with two of the biggest pizza boxes being delivered to the restaurant the other night. Very ingenuitive.

German sense of humour is as expected and am working on it, a small success this morning, after the queue leaping experiance with an Aussie, this morning I got a smile out of the blood doctor. After she had drained almost all the blood from my body for their tests I commented on various points being empty = smile. Very basic I don't think they'd get the knock knock scenario.

Karly has been a great support and it would be twice as hard without her.

Well still as positive as ever and will carry on the fight as long as I can and will post again soon.

Take care all x

And we are off.........

16/07/2012 14:14

Hello - Its Karly here - been playing around with lloyd's blog today whilst he has been getting his massages......it needed a woman's touch.

Well first working day in the clinic and we have lloyd's first weekly programme which conists of local hyperthemia, oxygen treatments, magnetic field plus massages and lymph drainage.

We are yet to see Dr Herzof himself ....... we are told it is not unusual for him to pop in at 11pm at night.

Vitamin infusions are being given daily and started as soon as we arrive.  I think we have managed to work out where everything is - I have found the gym :-) and have just been whilst lloyd was getting his massage.

Food is very.....german.  Lloyd has had his first taste of tofu - first words were 'what is this stuff!???'  not that keen huh lloyd lol!  We are learning fast that when it comes to food you a) need to get there with in the first half hour so that you get a choice and b) they clear away exactly on time - if lunch is til 13.30 then at EXACTLY 13.30 everything is gone.  Blink and you miss it!

Im going to try and upload some pictures at some point.  Whilst we have hard wired internet in the room, wifi is only in the lounge, so for those of you messaging me on whatsapp its will be a little intermittent.

We have met some of the other patients- they come from all over the world - australia, america, iran, UK etc.  Many of them have been coming here for a while and seem to have formed a strong community.

Anyway thats all from me for now, will update again soon once lloyd has had some of his treatment.  If you want to leave messages / comments you can do this on the guestbook page

Au Revoir (don't know how to spell it in German haha)

Karly x
